In January 2023, New York State will issue a scoping plan which will include recommendations to help meet the 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, which involves a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and an 85% reduction by 2050. The Scoping Plan will prioritize disadvantaged communities and the creation of good, family-sustaining, union jobs to all New Yorkers. The Climate Act requires that Disadvantaged Communities receive a minimum of 35% of the benefits of spending on clean energy and energy efficiency programs and projects. NYS government has introduced rebates for property owners that install energy efficient measures into their building. Rebates are available for all measures that are above the 2022 state energy code, all throughout NYS and higher rebate rates are available for affordable housing development projects.
